Credit insurer opens for business: Belfast Telegraph

The world’s largest trade credit insurer has opened a regional office in Northern Ireland for the first time. Euler Hermes UK – a division of global insurance giant Allianz – began its local operations on Monday at Belfast’s Linenhall Street.

Euler Hermes now has 11 offices across the UK and Ireland. Its Belfast branch is led by Matt Cupitt, who is from the city but has been working in London for eight years.

The new office will play a key role in serving Northern Ireland clients.

“The best way for us to help our policyholders in Northern Ireland is to have up-to-date intelligence on the risks their customers present,” said Mr Cupitt.

“The local base in Belfast will allow us to encourage the companies to share their information with us and build stronger relationships with a number of local businesses. This will bring us closer to the risks, enabling us to make the best decisions to support our policyholders whilst understanding the culture of the area.”

Part of the function of the Belfast office will be to advise policyholders on how best to minimise risk exposure to other traders. It will also help the company in making underwriting decisions in the local market. The business processes and updates the records of thousands of companies every day.

“Our risk analysts are constantly analysing financial data relating to individual businesses, against the background of wider national and international trends,” said Mr Cupitt.
